Support Worker — Requirements & Expectations
Who you are:
You believe in people living lives beyond limits. You care deeply. You listen first and act with compassion. You bring your full self to work, plus some warmth, authenticity, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
What we expect from you:
You will provide respectful, person-centred support that empowers participants to develop independence and dignity.
You will be inclusive in how you speak, think and act — welcoming everyone, celebrating differences, seeking to understand.
You will be present: listen carefully to what participants want and need, and tailor your support accordingly rather than assuming.
You will be reliable, punctual and accountable. When people depend on you, you show up.
You will maintain professionalism in all tasks: maintaining privacy, honesty, transparency, and following policies and procedures.
You will be flexible and open to learning. As needs evolve, so does your role, and participating in ongoing training & development is part of the job.
You will work collaboratively: as part of the Beyond family, with teammates, participants, families, and other service providers.
What you bring (qualifications & skills):
Certificate III (or higher) in Disability, Aged Care or relevant field (or willingness to study toward this).
First Aid & CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
Current Working with Children Check / NDIS Screening / relevant background checks.
Reliable transport or ability to travel between sites / community locations.
Strong communication skills — you can explain clearly, listen with empathy, adapt based on individual needs.
Physical capacity and willingness to assist with daily living tasks (personal care, mobility support) and household tasks, meal prep, etc.
Ability to stay calm under pressure, respond to emergencies, follow health & medication protocols.
What you’ll get from us:
A supportive, inclusive work environment where you are seen as part of the Beyond Potential family.
On-the-job mentoring & training from senior leaders in the health / disability sector.
Opportunities for ongoing professional growth — we encourage study, expanded responsibilities, leadership if desired.
A role that matters every day — helping people live with dignity, joy, choice and connection.
